It's gone! It's healed- I mean! The wound is all healed up! [Look, he had been there literally day one when everything happened, he has a right to know the happy ending.]

[It takes him a moment for the news to sink in, his eyes widening from the realization and awe, and then--]

[There's a small smile starting across his face, both from stunned disbelief and happiness, almost as if what he's hearing is too good to be true. It'd been gnawing at him for nearly a month, that state Usagi had been in, so to know she's well again, when things were about to get rough--]

It's gone? All gone? Seriously?

[But then something comes to mind, and his expression sobers slightly, before he adds:]

And your breathing issues? And the blood loss...? Are those all healed up now too?

[Look, he wants to be EXTRA sure before there's any celebrating happening, okay!]

Well, I don't know about ALL gone, but there's nothing on the outside. I'll make an appointment with Dr. McCoy to make completely sure.

But yeah, as far as I can tell, I'm all cured!

[Well, at least she's following up on it, so that was a relief! With that bit out of the way, he finally feels free to smile, subdued as it is.]

... that's great, Usagi. I'm glad it's cleared up as fast as it did.

[Well, a month isn't exactly a short time, but with how badly she was hurt, he wouldn't have been surprised if it took her triple that time to fully recover.]

So what happened to the crystal, anyway? Did it fall off once everything healed itself up? [A beat, wondering if it might be too personal, but--] There... aren't any scars from it, are there?

Fast! [It took over a month! That isn't fast at all for her! Still, she knows a NORMAL human would have been, well... likely dead, but also out for months with such a wound.]

Hmm? Oh, no, I think I absorbed it. Which is good, I don't exactly want parts of my heart just lying around. And no, no scars. There are never scars. [She has a million and one wounds and no marks from any of them. Whether or not that is good or bad is hard to say.]

[He holds up his hands in defense, numerous bandages on the tips, already having an idea of her thoughts on that statement.]

It could have been three months! Or six! You're lucky you don't have to deal with October with something like that.

[Because if all that he's heard about October is true, then she'd need to be in tip-top shape.

His brow creases as she goes on, wondering whether he should be concerned about any of those statements.]

[And, because he's smart enough to know that's not going to be a sufficient answer:]

I'm just... testing something out for October, that's all. They're mostly just papercuts and stuff.

[Well, maybe slightly more deep than papercuts, since he needed blood, but nothing that wouldn't heal in a week on it's own, anyway.]

[... of course, any tension from that is immediately bulldozed by THAT loaded subject she dropped, and he can't help but stare at her for a few moments, until:]

It's a remarkably childish look on someone who's usually as serious and composed as he is, but... well, he is thirteen. It happens!]

I'm... trying to see if I can make my own blood incense for October, okay? I figured that since I have moon magic in my blood... I could probably make something effective against any monsters that might show up. I only need a little bit to use them in my spells to make them, so it's nothing you need to take me to the doctors over.

[Okay, she can't help it, his little petulant face is absolutely adorable, probably because it's so RARE. It's like seeing Sakura-chan angry. Too cute to really take seriously even if that isn't all that nice.]

Ah... Syaoran-kun... look, I understand, completely wanting to help and make things because of moon blood. [She has every intention of making moon essence.] but before you go making dozens and dozens of it and hurting yourself, we need to know if it works. What if you've been hurting yourself and only incense made BY Deerington will do?

I'm not going to tell you to not make it, but I think you need to wait to see what it can do before destroying all your fingers.

[Oh, if she had only known him when he was younger, she'd probably get a whole wealth of those faces to see. The fact he isn't as much of a grumpy nugget now is all thanks to Sakura's good influence upon him! His shoulders slump a bit from their previous tense position, but it's clear that Usagi's warnings aren't getting through to him as much as she'd like.]

Wait until October comes when we might not have a chance to use our magic at all? I can't do that. It's too risky. There's no way to really test it without whatever monsters might be around that month to ward off.

[Of course, she brings up a good point, that maybe it's only Deerington's brand of incense that would help, but... no. After the work he's put into it, he doesn't want to dwell on that sort of possibility.]

Anyway, Sodder gifted me some tea not too long ago that helps speed up healing, so as long as my cuts aren't that deep, my fingers will be fine. I'm not damaging them in any way.

[Though it should be said that he'd probably still do this even if he didn't have that tea on hand, because he's a stubborn little punk when he wants to be.]

You're right, there is no way in testing it and I get it, Syaoran-kun. I GET not wanting to wait, trying to be as prepared as possible before all the danger comes.

But there are so many unknowns. There are so many things we don't know that will come. What if incense doesn't even WORK this year? If layers are being pulled back? Why would it be the same as last year or before that?

But if you get to worry about me pushing myself why don't I get to worry about you?

At the very least, take a break. I don't care that you have tea. How much have you made?

[His sullen expression only deepens as Usagi lectures him further, knowing she had good reasoning, but feeling a flare of annoyance all the same.]

If we're using that logic, then who's to say October will bad again this year? Maybe there won't be any monsters or blood, and just be more weird books and creepy movies? Maybe all this preparation is a waste for all of us.

But we know that's not the case. And even IF incense might not work this year, isn't it better to make sure we have it and not need it, instead of being short on it when we do?

... anyway, it's not the same. You lost a good chunk of your side and tried to walk home while losing a ton of blood. Anyone with common sense would be concerned about you doing too much after something like that.

[And the amount of blood he's used for this is nowhere near the amount she lost, either! He knows she means well, though his stubborn nature just makes him dig his heels in further.]

That goes for you too, though. I know you're better now, and you have a lot of power as Sailor Moon, but-- I don't want to see another huge crystal taking up your body again, okay? Do what you need to do to protect yourself and others, but don't do anything too reckless.

[In fairness to Usagi, she didn't exactly go out LOOKING for the sound monsters, they literally came because she closed my door just a little too hard.
