Main series wikia! Syaoran has a wikia too, but it's 1) mostly based on the anime and 2) doesn't go into his role in the plot, so summary time!
Once upon a time, there was a powerful sorcerer named Clow Reed, who was skilled in both Eastern and Western magic. Using his unique blend of abilities, he created a book of 19 magical cards, aptly named the Clow Cards, along with a pair of guardians to protect them. At the time of his death, he sealed the guardians into the book, arranging for them to reawaken when they find the right candidate to be their new Master. Cue the tome being passed through many hands and many cities, until it arrives in the library of ten-year-old Sakura Kinomoto's basement. Due to the Guardian Beast of the Seal, Cerberus, taking a prolonged nap on the cover for a good few decades, Sakura accidentally releases the cards, scattering them throughout the town. Cerberus, now awakened (and in a small, plush-like form to conserve energy), urges Sakura to recollect the cards before they cause mischief (or worse), and forms a magical contract with her so she can become a Cardcaptor and seal them away once more.
Nine months, and a handful of collected cards later, her class gets a new transfer student in the form of a perpetually scowling boy from Hong Kong named Syaoran Li. Sakura's a bit unnerved by the new kid's constant glaring at her, and she has good reason to! Her calls her out after class to meet him behind the school, and once they do, he demands to be handed over the Clow Cards and tries to forcibly take them from her when she refuses. Rude!! The scuffle is ended abruptly by the arrival of Sakura's brother Toya and Syaoran is 100% ready to fight him as well, until he sees Toya's best friend (and Sakura's crush) Yukito and... promptly runs away blushing. GOOD GOING, SYAORAN.
It's revealed that Syaoran is part of the Li clan, a famous group of sorcerers in Hong Kong, and in fact a descendant of the great and powerful Clow Reed himself. Because of his lineage, plus being the strongest magician in his family as well as it's heir, Syaoran feels that he's entitled to own the Clow Cards himself, and is less than thrilled that someone with as little magical experience as Sakura is the one tracking them down. When he sees her in Cardcaptoring action for the first time (against her friend Rika, who's possessed by the Sword Card), he swoops in to save her from getting hurt-- but then goes and straight up calls her pathetic for not knowing what she's up against. That, paired with the fact that they both have a huge crush on the same guy (aka Yukito), makes Sakura a bitter rival in Syaoran's eyes. (Kero, aka Cerberus, thinking he's a huge brat and totally down for biting his finger doesn't help things either. MAYBE YOU SHOULDN'T HAVE CALLED HIM A STUFFED ANIMAL, SYAORAN??)
As time passes and Sakura's motivation to capture the remaining Clow Cards becomes more solidified, Syaoran's feelings towards her morph from disdain to a begrudging respect, at least in regards to her magical abilities. A new arrival at their school, a substitute teacher by the name of Kaho Mizuki, shakes up the status quo, as Syaoran is instantly suspicious of her hidden power, while Sakura just gets warm fuzzies in her presence. During a school trip, Syaoran and Sakura wind up having a midnight discussion about their feelings in regards to Ms. Mizuki, in which Syaoran remarks that her 'floaty' emotions in regards to their new teacher may be because magic users are drawn to those with strong powers. They also have a small heart-to-heart about Yukito, realizing they're both attracted to him for similar reasons. The next night, during a test of courage game, a Clow Card attacks, erasing everyone in their class aside from Sakura and Syaoran. Sakura panics, unsure of what to do, but Syaoran calms her down and urges her to think with a clear head, aiding her with his own magic to help her track down the card and seal it away. Sakura offers the card to him, in thanks for helping her, but Syaoran turns it down, acknowledging that she caught it fair and square (although he later blusters and says he still thinks she isn't Cardcaptor material, but... baby steps.)
This becomes a turning point in their relationship, as Syaoran becomes more willing to aide her and give her advice about other cards. Tomoyo, Sakura's best friend-slash-camerawoman, calls him out on it at one point, wondering why he would be helping his so-called rival capture the cards that he had wanted in the first place. She also hints on possible growing feelings of his, teasing him about being grumpy that Sakura was not paying enough attention to him, which he strongly denies-- although given that he screams out Sakura's name during her battle with the Earthy Card when he thinks he lost her (which is an important thing to note, as he'd only been calling her 'you' or 'hey, you' prior to that), it's kind of obvious where his affections are starting to lie. Earthy happens to be the last card Sakura needed to capture, which winds up triggering the awakening of the second Clow Guardian, Yue of the Moon-- who also happened to be sleeping inside of Yukito all along! AWKWARD. He poses as the judge for Sakura's final trial with the cards, to see if she's truly worthy of being their new Mistress... as well as threatening to erase the memories of the loved ones of anyone who got in contact with the cards. No pressure or anything?? Syaoran, along with Sakura's other friends, are forbidden to help, as it would interfere with the judgement, and all looks grim... until Ms. Mizuki sweeps in and provides Sakura with the power to defeat Yue. It turns out that Clow knew all along that Sakura would be the one to master the cards, and thus set things up accordingly so Ms. Mizuki could help Sakura and bring Yue to her side. It also shed light on Sakura and Syaoran's feelings in regards to both Ms. Mizuki and Yukito-- Sakura's 'floaty' feelings were due to knowing she would help her in her time of need, and Syaoran's suspicions were a subconscious reaction to her having power that would be able to defeat a Clow Guardian. Their mutual attraction to Yukito/Yue was also because of his strong Moon magic, which, given Syaoran's powers draw from Moon energy and Sakura's balance of Moon and Sun, made a lot of sense.
With the cards sealed away and the disaster neutralized, things return to normal, and Syaoran plans to head back to Hong Kong. However, a new transfer student arrives in their class, an English boy named Eriol, (who, spoilers! Is in fact Clow Reed reincarnated and here to cause some Shit) who shows a bit more interest in Sakura than he's comfortable with. He decides to stay in Japan a little longer (for completely NON-petty reasons, thank you very much), which proves to be a wise move as strange things start happening through the town. Worst yet, Sakura's cards fail to work, despite her being their new Mistress, due to an incompatibility of powers. She exhausts herself by trying to convert a Clow Card to a new Sakura Card, much to the worry of Tomoyo and Syaoran, and Syaoran insists she contact him should anything else go wrong.
Sometime later, he overhears a discussion between Sakura and her friends about teddy bears, and how if someone makes one for somebody they love, and the person names it after the person who made it, their love would be forever returned. Syaoran's mind immediately goes to Sakura, much to his anguish and confusion, and he decides to make one for Yukito, because that's who he truly loves, right? But on the day Syaoran decides to give him the bear, Yukito asks if it's for someone else, which makes Syaoran think of Sakura again, and he runs away in embarrassment. Yukito follows after, now in his true form as Yue, and Syaoran confesses his dilemma, unsure of where his heart really lies. Yue replies with what's basically 'THINK LONG AND HARD ABOUT IT, KID', which he does, and to the surprise of absolutely no one, Syaoran realizes the one he actually really loves is Sakura. WHOOPS. Sakura has her own bear mishap with Yukito soon after (although having the gift you want to give to your crush turn into a Godzilla-sized stuffed animal is a bit more than a mishap, THANKS ERIOL), and while discussing it with Syaoran the next day, she apologies for it, knowing he likes Yukito too. Syaoran bashfully admits he likes someone else now, and attempts to confess to her, but Sakura interrupts, apologizing again and saying it's none of her business to know about his love life. The courage knocked out of him, Syaoran runs away from her, leaving his bear behind for her to keep (much to her confusion).
Syaoran struggles with his new feelings for the rest of the series, trying to figure out how to handle them, and confiding in Tomoyo when it becomes too much to bear for him. He also tries, again and again, to let Sakura know how he feels, but he either gets interrupted or stops himself due to his own insecurities. Sakura herself is largely clueless about Syaoran's affections towards her, thinking him a close friend and even cheers him on in his crush on the 'other girl', much to his dismay. With the weird things constantly happening in their town thanks to Eriol's influence and Sakura being in the middle of it, Syaoran tries his best to help her, from using a spell to track Eriol's coat (to no avail), to calming Sakura down when she thinks she lost Tomoyo forever, to worrying after her and wanting to be by her side if she runs into any danger. Sakura grows to depend on him so much, he's even the first person she goes to to cry over being rejected by Yukito (who, also to the surprise of no one, is in love with her brother), although it's partially due to the fact they've held similar feelings in the past and she knew he would understand. He comforts her, putting his own feelings aside, and assures her that she'll find her one and only some day.
Of course, there are other things going on in the series aside from romance, and Sakura has a prophetic dream about the sun and moon disappearing near Tokyo Tower with a mysterious boy at the center of it. Sakura decides to go there and investigate it, bringing Syaoran and Tomoyo for the ride. Syaoran tries one more to confess to her, but stops himself short, and Sakura has him pinky swear to tell her after the trip (because they're cute nerds). It turns out the mysterious boy is Eriol, much to their shock, and he uses his magic to hide the sun and moon to put everyone to sleep forever. Syaoran manages to stay awake, due to his magic, although he greatly struggles to stay conscious, fiercely protecting Sakura while she fights against Eriol and his new Guardians. Sakura comes to the conclusion that she needs to change the Light and Dark Cards (two of the most powerful cards in the book) in order to save everybody, and Kero and Yue volunteer to absorb their forms into her wand to give her the power she needs. That alone isn't enough to get the job done, and Syaoran, on his last dregs of energy, funnels the rest of his magic into her staff as well, assuring her that everything will be alright. He collapses soon after, much to Sakura's horror, but it fills her with a new determination and she saves the day, changing the cards and awakening everyone from their slumber. Syaoran, once awakened, is upset over not being able to properly help her, but Sakura embraces him and tells him it was because he was by her side that she was able to do her best.
Eriol comes clean over his true identity and motivations (it turns out he was testing Sakura to make her stronger, and that he needed her powerful enough to help him split his magic), and everything resumes to normalcy once more. Sakura presses Syaoran to tell her what he had wanted to tell her after the Tokyo Tower trip (because he obviously wasn't going to do it after all of THAT), and he finally confesses his love to her, leaving her in a state of shock. She struggles with this new turn of developments (and realizing him leaving her with his teddy bear wasn't exactly an accident), along with how EXACTLY she feels about him, and with the help of her friends, she begins to get an idea what it may be. However, as she's delivering a gift to Syaoran from Ms. Mizuki, she finds out that he's moving back to Hong Kong the very next day, and she's devastated. Syaoran tries to comfort her, and tells her he's glad to have met her, but she runs away, heartbroken. After getting some solid advice from another friend, Sakura runs home, her feelings towards Syaoran finally clear, and she starts to work through the night on a teddy bear, just for him. After many hours and no sleep, Sakura finally finishes, only to find out that Syaoran's almost on the way to the airport. With the help of her older brother, she catches him before his bus finally leaves, giving him her bear and telling him that she loves him too. As the bus pulls away, Syaoran asks if he can name it after her, and Sakura agrees, as long as she could name the one he gave her after him, and they promise to wait for one another until they can finally be together again.
Cue a couple years later, with Sakura just starting middle school, and Syaoran finally returns, the bear she gave him in hand, and they embrace, promising to be together ~FOREVER~, and they lived happily ever after!!
... except not quite yet, because this is where Clear Card picks up, and it's currently on-going! There's a lot that hasn't been explained or elaborated on just yet in the series, so writing a detailed synopsis at this point would be difficult. However, Syaoran does play a rather significant role in this arc so far-- with Sakura's magic somehow developing to chaotic levels of strength, he takes it upon himself to steal away the spirits in her Sakura Cards and break their contract, in an effort to lessen the burden on her. However... he doesn't necessarily tell her this until a good deal later, because... something something 'Sakura's not supposed to know she's making new Cards thanks to her wishes so no one can tell her until she figures it out'. Not that it doesn't make him feel like absolute garbage for keeping such a huge secret from her, though! He and Eriol seem to be the only ones so far with any real knowledge of what's going on with her powers and the new antagonist, though, even if... said antagonist has currently put Eriol out of commission and cursed Syaoran not to talk about him, so. Fun times!
Personality:
When we first meet Syaoran in the series, you can tell from a glance that he's going to be a foil for the ever-optimistic and cheery Sakura. He's stoic, cynical, serious and aggressively down-to-business, wasting no time in singling out his rival and trying to retrieve what he believes is his by birthright, even if it's by force. As the person with the closest blood-ties to Clow Reed, as well as the heir to his clan, he's highly knowledgeable about magic and their applications, being the one to act as exposition whenever a new Card or threat comes into the fray. His deduction skills and cleverness in battle also help to come up with plans on the fly without hesitation and he's good at keeping a cool head in a crisis (compared to Sakura, who occasionally gets overwhelmed in drastic situations). Being a lone wolf of sorts (haha, name puns), he's very self-sufficient and mature for someone his age, living by himself (in a foreign country no less!) and taking care of his own personal needs without relying on the help of others, even when he's sick. Because of this, he's arrogant and aloof, bluntly criticizing Sakura for her lack of skill during their first meetings, even though she's years behind in experience compared to him.
Despite Syaoran's no-nonsense personality and sense of responsibility, however, he is still just a kid, and a socially awkward one at that. Thanks in part to his strict and lonesome upbringing, he doesn't know how to deal with other people and open up to them, which left him with a prickly and aggressive attitude to conceal it. He's not above petty acts like setting someone's jacket sleeve on fire for getting too close to his crush (but seriously, Syaoran, no wonder Toya hates you), or getting into constant yelling matches with a stuffed animal just because said stuffed animal annoyed him. In fact, he has quite the inferiority complex, as he gets pretty jealous, competitive and even hostile with anyone he perceives as a threat, both in terms of romance and magic. It can range from suspicious glares and outright avoidance (like Ms. Mizuki and Eriol), to straight up throwing himself into contests with other people and REFUSING TO STOP (like his shooting booth match with Toya and the HOUR LONG BADMINTON BATTLE WITH SAKURA jfc Syaoran why are you like this). He has a burning drive to succeed, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but it can make him single-minded and likely to overreact or go too over the top, much at the cost of his dignity.
There's more than just quills to Syaoran's personality, though. He gets flustered and shy rather easily, especially when someone points out something nice about him, and it's hard for him to take a compliment in general without denying it or running away. He's also rather naive and gullible (maybe due in part to his sheltered upbringing), easily falling for tall tales and taking stock in superstitions, like love charms and the teddy bear exchange (And it's not just an age thing either-- he still gets regularly duped in the Clear Card arc, and he's in MIDDLE SCHOOL). Due to his guarded nature, it takes a while for him to own up to his feelings, getting embarrassed when it comes to admitting his softer emotions (be they of love or just friendship) and strongly protesting them if anyone winds up calling him out on it. For someone as stoic as he is, though, subtlety is not his forte when it comes to romance, turning into a blushing, awkward, nervous wreck whenever dealing with a person he likes, being extremely obvious to anyone paying even a bit of attention. (Unless you're Sakura, of course, bless her innocent little heart)
But beneath all the bluster and the spikes, Syaoran is, surprisingly enough, a kind-hearted and genuinely NICE person. For as grumpy and frosty as he can be, he's not mean-spirited or malicious-- even from the beginning, when he was still antagonistic towards Sakura, he still dives in to protect her from getting hurt, and he never did anything to hinder her from getting the Cards (despite making things easier for him if he did). He helps find Toya with his rashinban when he's injured from the Mirror Card (even though he has absolutely no love for the guy), and gets Sakura to stop crying when she's frightened over her friend's disappearances from the Erase Card (though he claims that he's just soft on crybabies and it's not because he's being nice to her, really!!) In fact, all throughout the hunt for the Erase Card, Syaoran sticks by Sakura's side, aiding her and keeping her calm (even remembering not to mention ghosts, lest he upset her again), and lets her keep the card, despite her offering it to him in thanks to being a vital role in helping her catch it. When Sakura finally collects all the Clow Cards and becomes their new Mistress, he's a graceful loser about it, even though it means he essentially failed, and he bashfully congratulates her on a job well done.
There's a fiercely protective side to Syaoran as well, especially towards those he cares about, which begins to emerge more once he starts to develop feelings towards Sakura. When Sakura's first 'tests' with Eriol start, Syaoran urges her to keep him in the know in case anything dangerous happens, even going so far to seal it with a pinky swear so she doesn't forget. He can get overbearing with his worrying too, like when he winds up loudly scolding Sakura for coming to P.E class with a fever (and then, after realizing he was being too harsh, sternly urges her to go home instead), and freaking out when she winds up with a series mysterious wounds on her hands (which, spoilers, were a result of her making a present for him, WHOOPS). His drive to succeed feeds into his desire to keep those he loves safe, and the result can be downright insane at times. He effortlessly breaks through Sakura's Maze Card at one point when she's in danger, a huge feat given that the only person to do so before was Ms. Mizuki, who had a bell that could defeat a Clow Guardian, all because he was THAT determined to rescue her. Most notable, however, is when he managed to be the only person (outside of Sakura, Eriol, and their respective Guardians) to stay awake after the entire world had been put to sleep, only succumbing to the spell after he 1) protected Sakura numerous times with his magic, 2) channeled his remaining energy into her staff to save the day and 3) did all of this while struggling not to pass out. And he actually gets upset when he awakens over not being to hold out until the end, either!!
That, though, is most likely due to his inferiority complex, as mentioned earlier. His arrogance masks the fact that he's pretty insecure about himself, mostly in regards to his feelings, and it's constantly a wall for him in the series. Most of his attempted confessions towards Sakura in the series wind up getting halted one way or another in regards to his insecurity, either by an ill-timed interruption which makes him lose his nerve, or just his own misgivings, and he even avoids giving her chocolate in person on Valentine's Day because he assumed she was busy and didn't want to trouble her. Syaoran confides to Tomoyo at one point that he may not even want to come clean about his feelings, not wanting to upset Sakura about possibly hurting him if she doesn't feel the same way, to which Tomoyo basically tells him SHE'S A BIG GIRL, SHE CAN HANDLE IT, which sets him straight. He's blind to his own strengths, repeatedly beating himself up over not being able to do more for Sakura when she needs it (the above-mentioned test with Eriol included!!), unable to see that his support and kindness and faith in her is priceless in her eyes.
By the end of the series, Syaoran's aggressive, grumpy tendencies have melted away, leaving behind a gentler, calmer, more considerate person. He's able to think about others' interests more than his own, putting aside his feelings for someone else's sake, like when he comforts a heartbroken Sakura over Yukito. Even when he finally confesses his love to Sakura, he puts no pressure on her for an answer, despite him moving away to another country the very next day and obviously wanting some sort of closure to the whole thing. Being around someone who was able to see past his spiky armor and genuinely wanted to be his friend helped him immensely, and, as cheesy as it is, it was due to the power of love that he was able to change himself in the first place. Of course, he's still shy, easily flustered, and has a tendency to keep things to himself-- sometimes things that he really shouldn't be hiding, like his discomforts, worries and pain. But he can actually smile at other people now, and be somewhat social, so bless character development for all that it's done to him.
Abilities/Powers/Weaknesses & Warping:
Abilities/Powers
Elemental Magic and Spells
Being a descendant of a famously powerful sorcerer, Syaoran is naturally gifted at magic, which draws itself from the power of the moon. One of his main skills is that he can summon and control the four elements at will, using slips of enchanted paper (called jufu) that he carries on his person at all times.
Obey thy command! God of Thunder, come forth!/Raitei Shourai!- His lightning elemental, it summons bolts of electricity and is mostly good for offensive attacks (or just frying everything in a large vicinity).
Obey thy command! Fire God, come forth!/Kashin Shourai!- His fire elemental, it summons flames for offensive attacks, but it can also generate small fireballs and excellent for providing illumination if a candle is not handy.
Obey thy command! Petals of Wind, come forth!/Fukka Shourai!- His air elemental, it summons gusts of wind to act as shields, but it's also very handy for softening falls and being able to walk on water when concentrated on the feet.
Obey thy command! Water Dragon, come forth!/Suiryuu Shourai!- His water elemental, it summons waves and whirlpools, but is also good for dousing things with water! (It's useful, trust me)
He also can use a powerful tracking spell to find anyone, anywhere, as long as he has a possession of theirs! However, it takes intense concentration and time, and it's useless if the person has enough power to deflect it (like Eriol, who's Clow Reed's incarnation). There's also various other spells he's implied to know, due to his extensive training and education from his mother in Hong Kong, but until canon demonstrates them/explains them, I won't be listing them here or having him use anything outside these specific ones in-game.
Magical Sensitivity and Detection
Being raised as the heir of a family full of magicians (and having considerable magical ability himself), Syaoran is particularly sensitive to magic, being able to pick up on magical energy faster and at a greater range than Sakura can. He's also better than her at detecting magic in others, even when it's cloaked or hidden, although it's more or less a vague impression than anything concrete. (This, of course, would only be done with player permission)
He also own a magical compass called the rashinban, passed down through his family and made by Clow Reed himself, created specifically for tracking down Clow Cards. It increases his ability to detect magic (mostly Clow Card-related magic), and will glow and fire a beam of light towards it's target, but can be largely useless if there's too much magic around or if they're stuck in the influence of a card, like the Maze Card. (It's also implied to be designed off the Li family magic circle, which Syaoran is seen using when utilizing his tracking spell and in the Clear Card arc, but it's never been confirmed) It gains a second use in Clear Card as a storing place for the Clow/Sakura Card spirits after he takes them from Sakura, but it's not entirely clear (haha) whether it was an in-between space while Syaoran was converting them to his magic or something more permanent.
Swordsmanship
Syaoran's other main skill, aside from magic, is an excellent knowledge of swordsmanship! He's able to wield a Chinese jian sword with ease, being able to go toe-to-toe with someone possessed with master-level sword skills, and being able to cut down strong magical barriers without a second thought. The sword also doubles as a focus for his magic, using it along with his jufu for a stronger summoning effect, or as a concentration point for a spell. After his extensive training in Hong Kong in the year or so between the original CCS and Clear Card, he also learned to summon his sword from his left hand, giving him a cool yet needlessly extra way to store and carry around his sword whenever he needs it.
Temporary Sakura Card Ownership
Thanks to a spell casted upon their teddy bears prior to his return to Japan, Syaoran is now the temporary Master/Wielder of the Sakura Cards and can access whatever powers they have at his request. (i.e wings on his back for the Fly card, tracing down shadows with the Shadow card, etc) However, as his magic isn't at the same level of Sakura's, it takes a lot out of him to maintain them and use them, and they're only used to help and assist Sakura when his own powers aren't enough.
Intuition/Strategy
Syaoran's fairly quick on his feet when it comes to thinking up plans in battle, often being the one to come up with an idea first (like using lightning against the Shadow Card or using his water spell to reveal threads that were surrounding him), which Sakura expands upon to land the finishing strike. He's not as creative or out of the box as she is, but he's good at analyzing situations and figuring out a plan of action with a much more rational head.
Martial Arts/Athletics
While not used nearly as often, Syaoran is also fairly good in martial arts! He's not shonen-level, by any means, but he has enough skill to land a flying kick at Toya while he had him hoisted in mid-air, and knows where to hit in order to knock someone out temporarily. His athletic skill matches Sakura's as well, as they're always nearly neck in neck when it comes to sports and other physical activities, and he can keep up with her effortlessly in the midst of battle.
Misc.
He is astoundingly self-sufficient for his age?? In both the original CCS and in Clear Card, Syaoran lives on his own while staying in Japan, and is said to do all the cooking/cleaning/shopping by himself. Considering he's ten and thirteen in the respective installments, that's pretty impressive??? He does a really good job at it too-- Sakura remarks over the cleanliness of his apartment and his amazing cooking skills a few times in canon-- so the fact a preteen kid has better life skills than a lot of people twice his age is worth adding here.
Weaknesses & Warping
Stubbornness
When Syaoran has his mind set on something, it's quite difficult to dissuade him otherwise. While it's useful when it comes to fighting or protecting other people... it's also really bad if it's a viewpoint on a certain person or involves something that could get him hurt. Clear Card being a major example: Eriol had urged Syaoran NOT to take Sakura's cards because it would take a toll on his energy, and Yue lectured him on putting himself in danger lest it'd make Sakura upset. And what does he do? The exact opposite of what they told him to do! Sometimes it takes seeing the consequences of his actions to get him to change his mind (see: Sakura crying over the idea of him being in pain because of her), but otherwise his bullheadedness can be a major detriment in making sound decisions.
Lack Of Self-Preservation
It's not so much a physical weakness, but more an issue with mindset-- when it comes to protecting those that are dear to him, Syaoran can be self-sacrificing to a ridiculous degree. He doesn't think twice about expending the majority of his magic to help Sakura, even when he's fighting off a sleep spell, and in Clear Card, he went about converting the Sakura cards to his own magic even though it was taking a great toll on his physical and mental health. Using a trial of Eriol's in the original series as another example, his first action in response to a barrier sealing Sakura in a hole is to slam against it repeatedly with his fists, not caring whether he was hurting his hands in order to get her out. Syaoran's very much the type to throw away his happiness and well-being if it means keeping someone dear to him safe-- and that's not a very healthy outlook to have, NOR is it good for those who care about him, either.
Age and Naivety
Despite all the spells, swords and knowledge, Syaoran IS still only thirteen, and has all the physical and mental limitations that come along with it. The world of Cardcaptor Sakura is a sweet and idealistic one (even IF Clear Card has been hinting at some darker stuff along the edges), and even though Syaoran's a bit more grounded and mature compared to Sakura's optimism, he's still an innocent, honest, straight-forward kid. Given how often he falls for his classmate's wildly untrue stories, Syaoran's pretty gullible, and he's fairly easy to read despite his mostly serious demeanor.
Warps
In regards to his elemental magic/talismans, they will have weaker effects than they've had before-- his fire talisman will only produce a small flame (slightly larger than the flame from a lighter), his water talisman will only be as good as a water gun blast, his air talisman as strong as a small fan and his thunder talisman producing a scarce amount of sparks. He can get their original effects if he pushes enough magic in it, but it will knock him out/exhaust him without fail.
Borrowing from Caprica's/Sakura-mun's app (with permission): In order to avoid having multiple "weapons" in Syaoran's slots, any Sakura cards that could be used in a battle situation would be completely depowered in order for Syaoran to be able to have both his sword and the cards. He could then reactivate the cards throughout the game, but would be limited to one at a time before he gets worn out. The Sakura cards would behave much like Sakura's Clear cards as well-- not entirely obeying his commands or even rebelling his wishes and having an opposite effect. He won't be able to communicate with the 'spirits' in the cards, either, even when he regains his rashinban.
Lastly, his sword summoning will be accompanied by a sharp pain in the 'exit' point of his hand, akin to a vicious cut (or... a slightly less painful version of how pulling a sword through your hand would feel like). It won't produce any blood or physical wounds, but it will be a deterrent from whipping out his weapon all of the time.

Are you comfortable with prominent elements of fourth-walling?: Yep!
What themes of horror/psychological thrillers do you enjoy the most?: I enjoy campy supernatural things (such as werewolves, vampires, demons, and ghosts), but in terms of horror, my preference definitely leans more towards the slow-burn/psychological end as opposed to the jump-scare end. Higurashi/When They Cry, Chilling Adventures of Sabrina (comics-version), Girl from the Other Side, and Rachel Rising are all some of my favorites in the genre, and a lot of them deal with spooky small towns/villages where the horror coexists with the setting. (Like hidden witches, mysterious murders, etc)
Is there anything in particular you absolutely need specific content warnings for?: Emetophobia, detailed descriptions of drug use, domestic abuse, sexual abuse/assault (especially of minors), incest, and realistic/detailed gore
Additional Information: Let me know if there's anything I need to change in regards to Syaoran's inventory/powers/warps! I wasn't sure whether to keep his talismans all in one slot or dedicate a slot to each power, so...?? Hope this is okay!
